Karmatang Beach

Just half an hour from Mayabunder lays the tropical haven of Karmatang Beach. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a family picnic, or a fun outing with friends, this sandy paradise should be your top destination. Enjoy the quintessential tropical vacation vibe by relaxing in hammocks strung between palm trees. For those visiting with children, a small park offers a perfect spot for them to play. The beach's waters are great for swimming, even though the sand has a slightly 'muddy' appearance compared to the pristine white sands found elsewhere.

German Jetty

The German Jetty is located at the northern end of Mayabunder, near the APWD guesthouse and the market. Surrounded by lush greenery, it offers an incredible view of the open sea. The shoreline, dotted with massive rocks, creates crashing waves that produce a natural symphony, perfect for those seeking tranquillity. The remains of this old harbour, known as the "German Jetty," are a notable feature. According to local settlers, the jetty earned its name because it was constructed by a German engineer during the Second World War.

Avis Island

Avis Island is a small but picturesque island located about a 20-minute boat ride from the Mayabunder jetty. The island is adorned with abundant coconut plantations, enhancing its scenic beauty. Visible from the Mayabunder harbour, Avis Island is surrounded by clear, tranquil waters and features a small beach for visitors to enjoy. Though uninhabited and not open to the general public, private boats can be chartered from Mayabunder with the necessary permissions. Special authorization from the forest department is required for a day visit to this serene island.
